Beaver speech team competes at Riverside meet
St. Edward Beaver speech team, along with coaches MacDonald, Stark and Osantowski, competed in the Riverside Speech Invitational at Cedar Rapisd on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
“This was the best run speech meet we have attended all year,” said coach Staci MacDonald. “It ran ahead of schedule, which is pretty amazing for a speech meet!” There were 19 schools and 300 competitors.
Participating from St. Edward were two Oral Interpretation of Drama (OID) teams: “Revolting “ with characters Korina Bittner, Kalvin Sindelar, Noah Ketelsen, Lydia Ketelsen and Arlette Irineo, and “Circus” starring Claire Tibor, Anthony Reader, Yoselin Herrera-Frias, Josie Sock and Rebekah Ketelsen.
Also participating were Alli Brauner in poetry, Leilani Vargas and Arlette Irineo in duet acting, Lydia and Rebekah Ketelsen in duet acting, Kalvin Sindelar in humorous prose, and Korina Bittner in serious prose.
Earning top novice medals were Kalvin Sindelar and Korina Bittner in duet acting, and Noah Ketelsen in humorous prose.
Claire Tibor earned sixth place overall in Program of Oral Interpretation (POI).
The speech team will be competing in their district meet at Scribner on Monday, March 11.
