One of the memories is my first visit to Morrill Hall. Our country school had taken a field trip to Lincoln and, from the moment we walked through the door, this country mouse was captivated by the sight of those huge and unusual creatures found buried throughout our state, some of them just outside our back doors.

Juniors win over Plainview in opener

This past week, the Albion Post 162 Junior Legion baseball team started their summer season by hosting Plainview on Monday and traveling to St. Paul on Wednesday. Monday was a great night for baseball, and a great team effort, as the Albion Juniors squeaked away with a close 7-6 win to start the season. A gritty St. Paul team played well against Albion, as Albion fell 10-2.

Chargers were strong competitors at state

Riverside Chargers track teams traveled to Omaha for the 2024 Class D State Invitational. They earned a ninth-place boys overall finish, a 28th for the girls, and a number of individual medalists.

Gift of sacrifice acknowledged at Petersburg Memorial Day

The annual Memorial Day ceremony was held at the Veteran’s Memorial in Petersburg. Vice Commander Pat Cleveland welcomed those in attendance. This was followed by advancement of the colors by Post 334. The pledge of Allegiance was led by Post 334 Auxiliary followed by the National Anthem sung by Emma Lordemann and Sadie Goodwater. Invocation was given by Chaplain Hank Thieman.
