Eight new benches were installed in the Newman Grove park areas with the Newman Grove Community Foundation helping with costs of $5,000. The benches have cutouts for local historical dates, and on the back have information about the community as well.
A good friend of mine celebrated his 70th birthday this week, so he planned a golf outing in Lincoln with many participants. We called it “geezer golf.” It was a lot of fun with cooler conditions in the morning, but there was a heat index of well over 100 degrees in the afternoon took some of the fun away.
A flurry of new state laws took effect Friday, establishing new policies for firearms in small schools, launching Parole Board reforms and expanding open government and voting rights. Of the 150 bills signed into law this year, more than 100 became effective last week.
