Seniors start season with loss, weather delay

Weather delay turned into weather cancellation for the Albion Post #162 Seniors in what was materializing as a tough game against PWG on June 2. The PWG team had started out strong, scoring two in the first, three in the second and five in the third, holding Post #162 scoreless, 10-0 before the game was called for weather at the mid-point of the fourth inning.

Juniors pick up two wins

The Albion Post #162 Juniors baseball team were able to squeeze in a full six innings before weather struck on Monday, June 2, helping them take a win over the PWG Juniors team, 8-5. The Albion boys took off in the first with two runs, gave up one to PWG in the second, and were trailing 5-4 at the end of the third.

College isn’t great at preparing you for trades, especially if they’re not a trade school - but I sure do appreciate paying for classes to learn how to submit articles to a magazine and mess with Photoshop.

The Albion American Legion Post #162 and VFW Post #736 Auxiliaries recently honored Denise Cook (at right) as this year’s Living Auxiliary Member Award winner. She was presented her award by Katie Score. Cook has been a member of the VFW Post 736 Auxiliary for 13 years, she has held the office of president for 5 years. From the social media post: “She is very active in the auxiliary and the community! Thank you Denise for all you do! Congratulations on this well deserved honor!”

Porter Memorial Playground to be dedicated

A special dedication ceremony will be held at the Eli Porter Memorial Playground next Thursday, June 12 at 4 p.m. to commemorate the finished project for all of Albion’s youth. The event will be held near the playground in Fuller Park.

Aquatic Center repairs delaying open date

Body
City workers and center employees have been hard at work preparing the Albion Aquatic Center for use for the 2025 summer season, but a discovered leak has slowed the annual opening. City Administrator Andrew Devine said that a leak had been discovered in the pool, and parts had to be ordered to make the needed repairs.
