The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced today that it is submitting a request to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to expand the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Healthy Choice Waiver to include candy as an ineligible purchase. Once approved, the restriction will take effect November 1, 2026.

The 2026 Boone County Raceway Schedule for the year’s races was recently updated on the track’s website. The full schedule, results and tracking can be found at www.boonecountyraceway.

The Boone Central Middle School Speech Team competed at the Norfolk Junior High Speech Invitational on Friday, April 24th. There were 10 schools, 193 students and 220 entries participating in this event.

It almost seems impossible, but the mid-point of the year is nearly upon us, and with that it’s time for another class of our brightest to head off into the world. I have a college age daughter, and a high schooler and two under second grade, so I’m in this parenting thing for the long haul.

The Omaha Archdiocese Council of Catholic Women (OACCW) will hold their Spring OACCW Meeting on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at St. Edward Parish Hall, 805 Washington St., St. Edward, hosted by RSW Deanery.
