In The NEST regular season, last place seed, Dylan Zoucha, found his stride and battled his way through the play in bracket to reach the Championship bracket. Dylan would eventually run out of steam in the Championship bracket, but not before eliminating the #3 seed from the tournament. Dylan is definitely the IRON MAN of the tournament having put up over 100 THROWS on the evening!!

A new veterinarian has joined the team at TC Vet in Albion, Elysia (“Ely”) Morris, DVM, started with her official rounds just after Memorial Day this past May. Morris is a native of northern Minnesota, and said that working on her extended family’s dairy operation helped cultivate and create a love for animals, specifically beef cattle as she learned more, which led her into veterinarian practice.

Petersburg blood drive coordinators have announced the next blood collection will be Monday, July 22, 2024 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at the Petersburg American Legion.

Rock Steady Boxing, a unique exercise program, based on training used by boxing pros, and adapted to people with Parkinson’s disease, will now be available at Boone County Health Center. The program involves regular exercises, such as stretching, balancing, circuit-based training and lots of non-contact boxing, led by experienced therapist/coaches.

Many area residents were on hand for the 20th anniversary celebration at the Applied Connective Technologies headquarters in Albion last Saturday evening, May 18. The crowd also included many employees and their families from varaious locaitons in Nebraska.

With the busiest time of agronomy season underway, Country Partners in Albion is settling into a rhythm with new personnel at the helm. “The past two years have seen changes in personnel and roles, and we are happy to announce that we have settled into what we believe will be an excellent fit for our member owners,” said Megan Bode Kroupa, vice president of sales and marketing.

Jay Reicks, a Petersburg native, has recently joined Town & Country Insurance, a division of GTA Insurance Group (“TCI”). In this role, Jay will help cultivate relationships in the community and provide insurance products that fit the needs of his customers.

Petersburg native Danny Henn is marking 10 years in business at Rae Valley Repair in Petersburg. He will hold an open house at the business, 102 North Front Street, on Saturday, May 4, starting at 3 p.m.

Andy Elder joined Great Plains State Bank, Petersburg branch, as vice president and loan officer last Monday, April 15. He joins Todd Heithoff, market president, and all other current staff members there.
