Newman Grove High School graduates of 2024 were saluted Saturday, May 11, both for their high school achievements and their potential to make a positive difference in the world. Superintendent of Schools Josh Warren said he has witnessed “incredible potential” in the senior class, and he urged them to continue their quest for excellence in their future endeavors.

Farmers planning to use chemigation (fertigation) to apply fertilizer or other chemicals to crops have a deadline of June 1, 2024, for permit renewal from the Lower Loup Natural Resources District. Completed chemigation permit applications must be received by the LLNRD on or before that date.

Nathan Devine, a Boone County High School senior, ·has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Albion Area Arts Council Scholarship. He is the son of Andrew and Michelle Devine.

Jaden Hagemann and Logan Spence, juniors at Boone Central High School, have been chosen to attend American Legion Cornhusker Boys State, June 2-8, 2024, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln downtown campus.

Sometimes, life can throw you curveballs, and you may not always hit them out of the park. Eighth graders from Boone Central Schools learned that and more during their “Reality 101” program on Tuesday, April 9.

First Communion was held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at a 2 p.m. Mass. Communicants were (front, l. to r.) Following the delivery of her daughter, Jessica Reich experienced complications requiring several units of blood. Jessica’s life was saved by those transfusions, along with the caring staff of the Boone County Health Center who went above and beyond.

Pat Miller and David Shipley, four-hand keyboard entertainers and fan favorites at area events, will provide a musical program after the annual Immanuel Zion (IZ) salad supper to be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 6 p.m.

A special benefit event is planned for Teigyn Reynolds, infant daugher of Skylar and Cabre (Johnson) Reynolds, at Ewing on Sunday, April 14. Teigyn was diagnosed with a rare lung disorder, and funds are being raised for a portable oxygen machine to make trips to doctor’s appointments safer for her.
