Albion Area Arts council has a new director, Alee Mullings, starting March 1.

Jennifer Walters, Arts Council director since 2022, has accepted a new position as events manager with the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, DC.

Alee is a 2013 Boone Central graduate and has lived in Albion since 2017 with her fiance Noe and their daughter Coraline. Alee is active in TeamMates, Girl Scouts Troop 58770, PTO, and the Emerging Leader Academy class of 2022. She said she is very excited to be working on the Arts Council.

 Albion Area Arts Council has several events planned and continues to work in partnership with organizations and businesses in the community.

‘Not Too Far Distant’

On Sunday April 14, at 3 p.m. the Arts Council, in partnership with VFW Post 736, will host an original play “Not Too Far Distant,” by Lincoln playright Becky Boesen. This play is based on the true letters of a Nebraska World War II veteran. It will be staged in the Boone Central Performing Arts Gym.

Summer Theatre, Concerts From June 17-22, the Arts Council will host the Missoula Children’s Theatre. Area children will be the actors, with the production held after a week of rehearsals.

Also, the Arts Council will continue to host the Summer Concert Series every Thursday evening in July 2024 at The Venue in downtown Albion.
