Area schools are planning and preparing for classes starting next week.

Newman Grove Starts Aug. 12 Newman Grove Public Schools will be open for the first half day of classes for grades K-12 on Monday, Aug. 12. Preschool will start Aug. 13 with the regular dismissal time.

Registration for all students was held Monday, Aug. 5, but registration forms are still available.

Bus routes will be similar to past years. Parents must notify the school if they wish to have bus transportation and haven’t previously had children riding the bus. Parents of new students are also encouraged to contact the school office at 402-4476294.

A Fall Sports meeting for all parents/ guardians with students in the Newman Grove-St. Edward program will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 7 p.m. in the St. Edward Community Building.

St. Edward Starts Aug. 14

St. Edward Public School will have its first half day of classes for K-12 students on Wednesday, Aug. 14, starting at 8 a.m. with dismissal at 1:30 p.m. The normal school day will end at 3:20 p.m. for preschool and at 3:38 p.m. for kindergraten through 12th grade. Buses will leave the school at 3:45 p.m.

All incoming kindergarten and seventh grade students must have a complted physical form by the first day of school. All 7-12 students who plan to participate in any sport must have a complted physical form by Aug. 14.

The Back to School Bash at St. Edward will be Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. A free will supper will be served by the Activity Committee from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and a Fall Sports Meeting for all participating students and parents will be held at 7 p.m.

Boone Central Starts Aug. 15 Boone Central Public School will hold its first half day of classes for K-12 students on Thursday, Aug. 15, with dismissal at 1 p.m. The first regular school day will be Friday, Aug. 16, with dismissal at 3:30 p.m.

Registration for preschool through fourth grade students will be held this Thursday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Performing Arts Gym.

A Back to School Burger Bash and Open House will be Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. for preschool through eighth grade. New students should contact the school at 402-395 2134 for an appointment. The bus route sign-up page is available on the school’s website for new bus students.

St. Michael’s Starts Aug. 20

Students at St. Michael’s School, Albion, will have their first half day of classes on Tuesday, Aug. 20, with early dismissal at 11:50 a.m.

Registration and enrollment day is being held today, Wednesday, Aug. 7, for all students. The school will be hosting an open house on Monday, Aug. 19, 4 to 6 p.m.. Students and parents can use this time to become familiar with the classrooms, meet the teachers and bring school supplies.

St. Michael’s hosted its annual Back to School Bash on July 25 this year.
