Smith to leave AEDC position
Body

Maggie Smith, economic development and housing program director for the City of Albion since September 2022, is moving to a new position with the Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF).

Smith will be a regional Affiliated Fund Development Coordinator with NCF, serving Northeast Nebraska.

Her resignation with the City of Albion is effective March 14, and she will begin training with NCF on March 18.

The city has begun advertising for a possible replacement.

“This is not a decision I took lightly,” said Smith. “The position with NCF has been on my top five list for some time, and I believe it will be a good fit. I am super happy that my family and I will be staying in Albion.”

During her 17 months with the City of Albion and the Albion Economic Development Corp., Smith played a key role in obtaining a $1 million Rural Workforce Housing Fund (RWHF) grant, which the city and AEDC are using to expand the city’s housing stock.
