Boone Central Elementary held a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new Book Vending Machine during the Back-to-School open house on Wednesday, August 15th. Albion Education Foundation grant funds helped purchase the Book Vending Machine with Boone Central Elementary PTO funding the books to stock it for the year.

Sid Meridith, originally from Boone and a graduate of St. Edward High School, will be featured as a part of this year’s 2024 Omaha Business Hall of Fame gala on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at the Holland Performing Arts Center, inducted into the Hall.

The annual “Ride to Remember” sponsored by South Side Lounge and Fire & Iron Motorcycle Club, Shell Creek Station 102, is coming up Saturday, Aug. 24, at Newman Grove.

The Boone Central TeamMates Mentoring program was recently awarded the Chapter of the Year award from the North Central region. The Boone Central team reported 26 new mentors recruited to be matched with local students for the year. The Teammate mentors also completed more than 60 refresher trainings, and were able to complete all the new mentor training that was required for the growth of the chapter.

Longtime head wrestling coach, Dale Bonge, now retired, was recently inducted into the Nebraska USA Wrestling Circle of Honor as a 2024 candidate for his efforts and service to the sport of wrestling.

Volunteer emergency responders received training in areas ranging from search and rescue to sports injuries and mental health during the Mini Fire School hosted by Albion Fire & Rescue last Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9 and 10.

Fostering a connection between the community and school cafeteria seems like a dream for countless schools. And now, for Albion’s Boone Central Schools, that dream has become a reality.
