BRAN votes to give Petersburg scholarships

Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN), recently announced its riders voted Petersburg the “Best Community” during the 42nd annual event. The award is a $1,500 scholarship that will be designated to Petersburg students who are or will be attending Nebraska trade schools, colleges or universities.

NRD reports rising nitrate levels in groundwater

Nitrate levels in parts of Nebraska, including areas within the Lower Loup Natural Resources District, are on the rise, according to the most recent LLNRD newsletter, Water Matters. The Safe Drinking Water Act requires that nitrate concentration in drinking water does not exceed I 0 milligrams/liter (often cited as IO parts per million, or IO ppm).

Commissioners accept bid for box culvert projects

Two box culvert replacement projects on Boone County roads were given the green light by county commissioners at their meeting last Wednesday, June 26. The county board accepted the bid of A & R Construction, Plainview, for the Petersburg Southwest project on 160th Street and the Albion North projet on a portion of 120th Avenue.
