Mary Lou Nore
Mary Lou Nore, 93, of Albion, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Mary Lou, daughter of Herman and Edith (Peterson) Rojohn, was born at the family home in rural Albion on Oct. 18, 1930. Mary Lou was baptized on Nov. 23, 1930, and later confirmed on June 11, 1944, at Zion Lutheran in Albion. She attended District #61 until eighth grade at which time she went to Albion High School, graduating with the class of 1948. Following graduation, Mary Lou was a clerk at Brown MacDonalds and later was a deputy clerk for the District Court.
On Sept. 25, 1949, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Iver Lars Nore at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. They made their home on the Nore farm that has been in the family since 1896. From this union, Mary Lou was blessed with three children. The family lived on the farm until 1964 when they moved into Albion. Mary Lou was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and Immanuel Zion (South Branch) Church. Her strong faith led her to teaching Sunday School for several years. Mary Lou enjoyed sewing, ceramic painting, and collecting teddy bears. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 2007, she received a silver medal from Eli Lilly for having used insulin for 50 years. At the time of her passing, she had been using insulin for 67 years.
Mary Lou is survived by her two sons: Doug (Karen) Nore of Lincoln and John (Lynelle) of Carmel, IN, daughter Mary Beth (Marvin) Razor of Omaha, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren: Amber Nore and daughter Chloe Nore, Courtney Nore, Hope Nore and children: Gage Nore, Arwen French and Bronwyn Nore, Anthony (Jenny) Razor and children: Atticus and Braxton, Kelly (Mark) Palacio, Evan (Becca) Nore and children: Owen and Hannah, Brennen Nore, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law: Iver and Alma Nore, husband Iver Nore in 2019, sister Lois (Leo) Mueller, two sisters-inlaw: LaVerne (Jerome) Kvam and Rose (Milan) Marie Limbo and brotherin-law Robert (Ellen) Nore. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion with Rev. Carolann Hopcke officiating. Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion.
