Funeral services for Beverly JoAnn Rieck, 92, of Albion, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Albion.

Rev. Becky Beckmann and Vicar Keith Powell will officiate, and interment will be at Dublin Cemetery, Primrose.

Visitation will be 4:30 – 7:00 p.m., Friday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Beverly JoAnn Rieck, daughter of Paul William and Annabel Pauline (Krumpus) Bartels was born March 2, 1932, at Omaha, and she passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society-Albion in Albion. She was baptized and confirmed at Akron Presbyterian Church in 1951. Bev attended Dublin School, Primrose, and District #79 before graduating from Albion High School in 1949. Following graduation, her big heart took her to Grand Island where she worked in the polio ward. On April 14, 1951, she married Stanley Bruland at Zion Lutheran Church in Omaha. From this union she was blessed with seven children.

The couple made their home in Albion where they raised their children. She was a housewife for a few years before going back and working nights. She was a natural care giver. She took care of her husband’s nephew as well as his parents for several months.

In June of 1973 her husband passed away. On September 20, 1989, she was united in marriage to Duane Rieck. In 1982 she graduated with her LPN from Central Community College, Columbus. She worked at the Boone County Hospital until her retirement. Altogether, Reick worked for 50 years as a Nurse’s Aide and LPN.

Reick was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, volunteered for 4-H, Meals on Wheels, and taught bible school for 40 years. She was an extremely hard worker. She had one of the biggest gardens in town with sweet corn and cucumbers, raised 400 chickens at a time for five years, along with being a nurse and a full-time mother.

She was preceded by her parents; both husbands; grandson: Derek Niewohner; great-granddaughter: Callie Reinke; sister: Marvel Jean Scarlett.

Beverly JoAnn Rieck leaves behind her seven children: Victoria “Vicki” (Dan) Reinke of Lincoln; Robert “Bob” Bruland of Albion; JoAnn “Jody” (Dean) Roberg of Newman Grove; Randall “Rusty” (Joan) Bruland of Albion; Rebekkah “Becky” (Dave) Ostwald-Pugh of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Anton “Tony” (Denise) Bruland of Norfolk; Letricia “Trish” (Mike) Svitak of Columbus, NE; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
