Newman Grove’s Postmaster, Michael Kroeger, closed his window for the last official time as the town’s postmaster last week on July 12, retiring after a 30-plus year career with the United States Postal Service. A social media post noted that Kroeger had served the community as postmaster for the last 17 years.

The post included this message to the community: “You’ll probably see him around town. We are excited for opportunities ahead, memories yet to be made, and more time with family and friends.” A growing list of comments wishing Kroeger well, and retelling some memories have stacked up on the post since it was made.

Kroeger said he had not been told about a replacement, but did say “Whoever that person is, they will be fortunate to work with the kind, caring and welcoming people of Newman Grove. This community treats you like family.”
