Eve Pauline Maricle, 97, of St. Edward, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at her home near St. Edward.

Eve Pauline, daughter of Fay and Ruth (Snavely) Evans, was born on Jan. 26, 1927 in Boone. She attended grade school in rural Boone County and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1944. She was the salutatorian of her class.

On March 3, 1944, she was united in marriage to her best friends’ brother, Ivan Maricle. They lived with Ivan’s father helping with farming until moving to Tilden where Ivan drove a truck for Nelsen Implement. In 1952, they moved their family to a farm northeast of St. Edward where she lived until she passed away.

She was a member of The Church of the Nazarene in St. Edward, and when the church closed the family joined the Methodist Church, now known as the St. Edward Christian Community Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir and played the organ for the services.

Pauline was a busy housewife, mother, and helped eagerly whenever needed around the farm with pigs, cattle, and chickens. In 1967, she went to work at the Bank of St. Edward for Frank Fonda and Gordon Matzen and later Don Janda. She and Ivan enjoyed traveling both overseas and in the states. Estes Park, CO was a favorite. On trips she enjoyed spending what seemed like hours photographing flowers while Ivan sat on a bench as far away as he could and still keep an eye on her – struggling with his hay fever. The last several years she has suffered from dementia and other ailments that kept her in her home. She never lost the glimmer in her eye and her sweet smile. Pauline was a caring wife, mother, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Pauline is survived by her two daughters: Dixie (Dean) Pearson of Omaha and Sharon Maricle of Lincoln, four grandchildren: Russ (Nikki) Pearson of Littleton, CO, Matt Pearson of Lincoln, Renae Schmidt of Columbus and Brian (Keri) Maricle of Saginaw, MI, one great granddaughter Olivia Pearson of Littleton, CO, sisters: Dottie Cosgrove and Dee Chadwell, both of Omaha and brother Jerry (Margarette) Evans of St. Edward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ivan and son Chip. Memorial services will be Friday, March 1, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Edward Christian Community Church in St. Edward with Pastor Mick Goc officiating. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in St. Edward.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.levanderfuneralhome. com.
