Following a long club wrestling tournament season, Boone Central youth competed in the NEUSA District Tournament this past weekend Cardinal wrestling coach Josh Majerus noted the difficulty of the event and expressed his positive impressions of local competitors.

“Boone Central Cardinal Club sent 24 wrestlers to the district tournament ... of the 24, 14 qualify for the state tournament in Grand Island in two weeks,” Majerus said. “In order to qualify you must place in the top four of your respective weight classes.

“I would say we have one of the tougher, and the largest, of the eight districts. It’s very tough to get in - similar to the high school state tournament. Our kids wrestled tough. Luke Edwards and Nathan Hemmingen came out as district champions!”
