Library hosts open house in Village Campus location

Body
Last Wednesday evening the Petersburg Public Library hosted an open house in their new location in the Village Campus. Guests were treated to hot chocolate, fresh cookies, candy, crackers and various snacks. Library Board members Jennifer Leifeld and Elaine Beckman provided an opportunity to use and understand the newer interactive computer system now available by creating an Active Articulated Arachnid. Board members noted these programs are available to anyone wanting to use them and kids that like to be creative would love them. Board member Jim Leifeld was also available to answer questions. The library board would also like to acquire a set of Legos if anyone has one to donate.

Cardinals upset by visiting Chants, enter state playoffs

Body
Boone Central football was back on the field for the regular season finale at home last Thursday facing the Chanticleers of Ord (3-5). This one was a thriller throughout much like last week with the game coming down to the final few minutes but unlike the last-minute stand of last week, Ord took the last-minute lead and made their own stand to hand the Cardinals their third loss of the season, 26-20.

Dirt work begins...

Body
Dirt work started on the new park area for the equipment purchased as a memorial for Eli Porter in Fuller Park near the hospital and fairgrounds. The project was announced in November of 2023, and hit very near it’s hoped for start date. The 7000 square foot, all-inclusive park and equipment was part of fundraising and grant efforts over the last year, as well as last year’s Big Give, and was expected to cost around $165,000 after grants and donations kicked off the project.
