From a summer job to a lifetime of service at the fairgrounds… What was supposed to be a one or two year summer job turned into an almost 40-year journey I never expected. In May of 1986, my wife Angie, our daughter Ashley, and I, moved back from Lincoln for the summer.

The Wayne State College men’s track and field team saw five athletes named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District Team released Tuesday morning and selected by College Sports Communicators. Senior Alex Brandt earned Academic All-District honors for a third straight season while seniors Quentin Dreyer and Wyatt Nissen, junior Jake Peitz and sophomore Jaxson Ninete were first-time honorees.

Stepping off right on time at 10 a.m. as promised, the Boone Central Marching band performed a number of songs over just a few blocks to lead the 2025 Kiddie Parade in downtown Albion to celebrate the July 4 weekend. Youth, parents and even a nationallyrecognized singer “Lee Greenwood” made and appearance (at right) in a variety of floats, bikes, wagons and strollers.
