There were many long days of scooping manure and replacing fence posts. He had fond memories of riding horses to herd the cattle along the ditches. His main focus turned to his family and keeping up the family homestead, raising: horse, goats, peacocks, guineas, ducks, pigeons, chickens, rabbits, dogs, cats, etc. He was excellent at turning foals into gentle giants. He was very involved in all his children’s activities, showing horses, many sports events and lessons, and 4-H. He was a soccer coach for 10+ years, including Kearney Park & Recreation and a traveling team. Chris remained volunteering for 4-H for many years after his children had grown, for a total of over 37 years as a 4-H leader. He was heavily involved in the 4-H BB gun shooting sports.
Throughout his life, Chris has donated many gallons of blood. He enjoyed tending to his rentals and knowing his tenants well. He enjoyed attending many auctions and had a great eye for a bargain. Chris enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed activities such as demolition derbies and parades. He enjoyed showing his Mach I in parades and on Cruise night.
