Donna Jean Baker, 94, of St. Edward, passed away on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.

Donna, daughter of Albert and Gena (Gabrielson) Nelson, was born on Dec. 4, 1929, in St. Edward. She received her education from St. Edward Public and graduated with the class of 1947.

On Sept. 1, 1948, Donna was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald Baker at her family’s home in St. Edward. The couple lived in St. Edward where they raised their four children. Donna was a homemaker, staying home to care for the children and the home while Don worked.

Donna was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Edward, now known as the St. Edward Christian Community Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Donna enjoyed playing cards, having coffee with friends, baking, cooking, and playing piano. She loved hosting family dinners and spending time with her grandchildren. She especially loved having her whole family together for Sunday morning coffees. Donna will be remembered for being a humble and caring woman and instilling those values in her children.

Donna is survived by her three children: Connie (Rick) Werts of St. Edward, Janell (Chuck) Micek of Pierce and David Baker of St. Edward, eight grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Baker, daughter Sharon Baker, daughter-in-law Gina Baker, granddaughter Gena Churchill, granddaughter-in-law Michele Werts, along with brothers and sisters-in-law.

A Memorial service will be Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11 a.m., at the St. Edward Christian Community Church, St. Edward, with Pastor Mick Goc officiating. There will be a visitation from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the church. There will be a private family burial at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward.
