Doris D. Knott
Doris Darlene Knott, 91, of Albion, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albion.
Doris, daughter of Charles and Mearl (Noble) Fleek, was born on Aug. 23, 1932 at her grandparents’ home on a farm near Loretto. She attended grade school at Loretto and graduated from Albion High School in 1950.
On May 28, 1950, Doris was united in marriage Joseph J. Knott at the Loretto United Methodist Church. They lived on Grandpa Knott’s farm near Loretto, then lived on the Wagner Place near Spalding before moving to Merna in 1965. They moved to Sargent in 1968 and lived there until they returned to Albion in May of 2000. Doris was a farm wife, raising their four sons: Mick, Tom, Kevin and Ross. When the boys were older, Doris began working at the bank in Sargent and worked there for 20 years. Doris was a member of the Loretto United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, cooking, family meals on Sundays, playing cards, and playing dominos with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a talent for cleaning snapping turtles which she enjoyed sharing with her sons. Family was especially important to Doris, and she enjoyed any event that would get the family all together. She will be remembered for her famous potato salad, monster cookies, German chocolate cake and her love of strawberry sundaes.
Doris is survived by daughter-in-law Toni Knott of Arthur, three sons: Thomas (Karla) Knott of Broken Bow, Kevin (Trice) Knott of Ericson and Ross (Danielle) Knott of Petersburg, 11 grandchildren: Sami Knott of Crawford, Jennifer (Dan) Dyer of Sutherland, Jessie Knott of Arthur, Andy Knott of Taylor, Lisa (Dan) Neal of Amherst, Heather (Kyle) Koob of Glendale, AZ, Edmond (Colleen) Knott of Albion, Lane (Tess) Knott of Lincoln, Riley, Macy and Trey Warner of Ord, 16 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe in 2014, son Michael “Mick” Knott, grandson Michael T. Knott, three brothers: Venneth “Buzz”, Kennard and Ronald Fleek as an infant and one sister Ardith Sallach.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., at the Albion United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynde Linde officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion.
