Eugene L. Wiese
Eugene Leo Wiese, 91, of Lindsay, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024, at his residence in Lindsay.
Eugene, son of Bernard J. and Theresa M. (Borer) Wiese, was born on Sept. 11, 1932, on the family farm north of Lindsay. Eugene received the sacrament of Baptism and was confirmed at Holy Family Church in Lindsay. He attended Holy Family school until the eighth grade, at which time he helped his family on the farm.
On Jan. 20, 1953, Eugene was united in marriage to Alice Rose Kyncl at St. Leonard Church in Madison. A little over a year later, Eugene entered the United States Army. He was active for two years and was stationed in Maryland and then Alaska as a mechanic working on tanks. Eugene also served overseas in Korea for a stint. On Feb. 11, 1956, Eugene was honorably discharged and returned home. Eugene was a hardworking farmer. He enjoyed the farming life and watching his children help by milking the cows.
Eugene will be remembered for his kind heart with the right mix of onery. He would help anyone that needed it and could fix just about anything. Eugene enjoyed listening to and dancing to polka music. Eugene never left home without his Alice by his side. Most importantly, Eugene loved watching his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren grow and make memories with them.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 71 years Alice Wiese of Lindsay, seven children: Julie Garza of North Platte, Gary (Amy) Wiese of Lindsay, Kenny (Marilyn) Wiese of Newman Grove, Dale Wiese of Lindsay, Alan Wiese, Kevin (Jenny) Wiese and Larry (Cindi Bader) Wiese, all of Newman Grove, 20 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, brother Jim (Karen) Wiese of Lindsay, sisters: Marian Hamling of Lindsay, Dorothy (Carrol) Hemmer of Humphrey and Bernice (Bob) Beck of Columbus, sister-in-law Germaine Krueger of Norfolk, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Gary Garza, granddaughter Jodie Garza, great grandchildren: Colton, Joselyn, Alexus, Jurnee and Lucas Wiese, brothers: Donald (Germaine) Wiese and Melvin Wiese, sisters: Evelyn (Clarence) Wojcik, Rose (Art) Priester and Laverna (Vern) VanDyke and brother-in-law Kenny Hamling.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Holy Family Church in Lindsay with Fr. Joseph Miksch and Fr. Stan Schmit officiating. Interment followed at Holy Family Cemetery in Lindsay with Military Rites conducted by Rotherham American Legion Post 261 of Lindsay, Army Funeral Honor Guard and the American Legion Riders.
