Body

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Francis Urban Veik. He was born in Albion, NE on July 11, 1936, and departed this life on Feb. 17, 2024.

Frank was a devoted family man and hard worker. He served in the United States Army and worked for and retired from the Ford Motor Company. He was a lifelong fan of his hometown sports teams, the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Lions and Pistons. He was also an enthusiastic fan of NASCAR races. Another one of his joys was attending circus’s, carnival’s, and local parades all while indulging on a delicious coney dog. He fulfilled his creative and engineering inclinations by creating models of the circus, carnivals as well as model train layouts. Francis is survived by his daughter Julie (Todd) Hutchins, his son Kevin (Carol) Veik, his grandson, Noah Veik, his granddaughter, Shauna (Patrick) Flynn and great granddaughter Adelaide Flynn. His strong sense of family and love will continue to live on through them.

He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Veik and his son, William Veik. Their memories were always held close to his heart.

There will be a memorial gathering for Francis on March 1, 2024, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. at Keehn-Griffin Funeral Home, 706 W. Main Street, Brighton, MI with a luncheon to follow at the Brighton Church of the Nazarene in Brighton.

This is an opportunity for family and friends to come together, to share memories and to celebrate the life of a man who touched the lives of many. Francis will be remembered not only for his service to his country, love for his family but also for his deep faith in God. His presence will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the lives and hearts of those who loved him.
