Gary Dean Iburg, 63, of Belgrade, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at his residence.

Gary, son of Melvin Richard and Frances Florence (Pratt) Iburg, was born on Sept.25, 1960, in Tilden. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran in Elgin. He attended and graduated from Elgin Public School with the class of 1980.

On April 7, 1995, Gary was united in marriage to Tammy Lynn VanMeter at Yankton, SD. The couple made their home in St. Edward before moving to Belgrade. Gary worked at many jobs during his life including construction, feedlot, sand plant, City of St. Edward, welded at several manufacturing factories, and his last job was working for Pillens which due to his health he had to quit a couple of weeks ago.

Gary enjoyed fixing antique tractors, fishing, hunting, collecting steins, and spending quality time with his children and granddaughter. There was nothing that Gary couldn’t fix.

Gary is survived by his wife of 28 years Tammy Iburg of Belgrade, three children: Megan Iburg of Fremont, Justin (Rebecca) Iburg of Cedar Rapids and Tonya (boyfriend Bo Dilley) Iburg of St. Edward, granddaughter Raelynn Dilley of St. Edward, sisters: Jane (Rich) Beltz of Norfolk and Sheila (Keith) Hoshor of St. Edward, brothers-in-law: Ralph (Sabine) VanMeter of Germany, Dennis VanMeter of Primrose and Mike VanMeter of Lincoln, aunt Goldie Poulsen of Elgin, best four legged companion Dum Dum, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother Richard Iburg, parents-in-law: Ron and Mathilde VanMeter, brothers-in-law: Ric Zabka and Joe VanMeter and sister-in-law Kim VanMeter.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 15, 2024 at the St. Edward Christian Community Church with Pastor Mick Goc officiating. Burial was at the St. Edward Evergreen Cemetery.
