Sandra Jean Lindgren, 82, of Albion, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society-Albion in Albion.

Sandra, daughter of William and Lillian (Kafka) Bentjen, was born on June 12, 1941 in Albion. Sandra was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion on Aug. 24, 1941 and was confirmed on March 25, 1956. She attended school in Albion and graduated from Albion High School in 1959. She then went on and received a teaching certificate from Wayne State College in 1962.

On June 23, 1963, Sandra was united in marriage to Robert Nels Lindgren at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Hooper before buying and moving to the Bentjen farm near Loretto. In 2012, Sandra and Bob moved to Albion.

Sandra taught school for a few years and was a farm wife, mother, and grandmother. She also helped teach Sunday School at Zion Lutheran Church where she was an active WELCA member. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking, canning, and polka dancing. Daily farm life included milking cows, gathering eggs, baking bread and cookies, and chasing children. She is fondly remembered by her family for four homemade meals a day and elaborate and sophisticated Easter egg hunts. Not only did Sandra lovingly raise her five children, she also was the full time babysitter extraordinaire for all of her grandchildren.

Sandra is survived by five children: Jeff (LeAnn) Lindgren, Jon (Darci) Lindgren, Jim (Becky) Lindgren, Cindy (Carey) Goodwater and Jerry (Victoria) Lindgren, all of Albion, 13 grandchildren: Daniel Lindgren, Christopher Lindgren, Joel Lindgren, Haley Lindgren, Jacob (Alex) Lindgren, Cassandra Lindgren, Ashley Lindgren, Jonny Lindgren, Olivia Lindgren, Jordan Lindgren, Collin Lindgren, Sadie Goodwater and Carie Goodwater; four great grandchildren: Azlyn Lindgren, Brody Pierson, Noah Lindgren, Summer Lindgren and one on the way, two sisters: Marlene Miller of Grand Junction, CO and Caroline Johnson of Delta, CO, brother Rolan (Connie) Bentjen of Albion, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, brother Clayton Bentjen, brothers-in-law: Lee Johnson and Charles Miller, granddaughter Kelsey Lindgren, and various other relatives.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church of Albion with Rev. Carolann Hopcke officiating. Interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion.
