Terry Charles Radenslaben, Sr., 77, of Newman Grove, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family.

Terry was born in Lincoln on Sept. 12, 1946, to Charles and Edith (Steel) Radenslaben. Terry went to Mead High School and graduated with the class of 1964. Following high school, he attended Nebraska Wesleyan graduating with his bachelor’s in 1968 followed by Wayne State College for his master’s.

On June 11, 1966, Terry married Diane Frahm at Yutan. The couple lived in Underwood, IA from 1968-1969, Crystal Lake, IA from 1969 -1979, before moving to Newman Grove in 1979.

Terry was a teacher for over 40 years, the last 29 being in Newman Grove. He taught math and was a guidance counselor. Along with being a teacher, Terry also coached football and cross country. Following his retirement from teaching, Terry worked at West Lumber and was a grain cart driver for Wallin Brothers when needed.

Terry had a strong appreciation for his community. He was a member of the Newman Grove Fire and Rescue for 15 years along with being the fire chief and rescue captain for many of those years. He was also a first aid/CPR instructor, member of the civil defense, hunter safety instructor, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he had previously served on the church council.

During his free time, Terry enjoyed gardening, pheasant hunting, woodworking, farming, going to the farmers market, watching baseball – especially the Twins and the Huskers, and watching the Packers and Huskers football teams. He loved getting together with family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren.

Terry is survived by his wife of 57 years Diane Radenslaben of Newman Grove, mother Edith Radenslaben of Newman Grove, son Terry (Angie) Radenslaben, Jr. of Elkhorn, daughter Tammy (Rob) Hitt of Rapid City, SD, four grandchildren: Lucas Jedlicka and Allison (Colin) Crumrine, all of Ankeny, IA, Jared Hitt of Rapid City, SD and Jasmine Hitt of Portland, OR, brother David (Deb) Radenslaben of Cedar Bluffs, two sisters: Mary Lou (Mike) Olson of Osmond and Sally Jo (Bruce) Reisser of Norfolk, brother-in-law Bill Frahm of Yutan, three sisters-in-law: Pat Frahm and Kathy Frahm, both of Mead, and Joan Frahm of Yutan, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, infant son Timothy Allen, father Charles Radenslaben, parents-in-law William and Caroline Frahm.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 19, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove with Deacon Claire Meyer officiating. Interment was at the Indian Mound Cemetery in Ithaca.
