Vicki Lynn Schluntz, 74, of rural Huntley, died on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society - Colonial Villa of Alma.

Vicki was born on June 26, 1949, in Albion, the eldest of five children, born to Harry and Doris (Beckstrom) Niemann. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Albion. She attended St. Edward Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1967.

Vicki pursued higher education and graduated from Grand Island School of Business. She later received her LPN License at Platte Community College in Columbus and began working at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Vicki continued her schooling to be a Respiratory Therapist where she continued working at the hospital in Holdrege until her retirement.

On July 26, 1985, Vicki was united in marriage to LeRoy W. Schluntz at the Chapel at the Lake Church at Johnson Lake. They made their home on LeRoy’s family farm near Huntley where Vicki enjoyed tending to the animals, she so dearly loved especially her cats and dogs. She enjoyed quilting, making many quilts over the years, and giving them to members of the family. Vicki spent a lot of time gardening and canning the fruits of her labor.

She was a member of the Huntley Methodist Church and was active with UMW attending many Church Conferences through the years.

She is survived by her sister Michelle (Steve) Ossowski of Roca, two brothers: Max Niemann of Lincoln and David (Pamala) Niemann of St. Edward, sisters-in-law Tracey Niemann of Norfolk, Genevieve Ziems of Kearney, Jean Beiriger and husband William of rural Holdrege and Sharon E. Schluntz of rural Huntley, brother-in-law Clinton Schluntz and wife Vivian of Hollinger, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, husband LeRoy Schluntz in 2020, sister Dixie Niemann in 2023, four nieces: Jessica Niemann, Linda Sturgis, Leah Ossowski and Madison Ossowski, great-nephew Brandon Bishop, brothers-in-law: Merwin Schluntz and Wendell Ziems.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. with the family greeting from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma.

A Funeral Service be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Huntley Methodist Church in Huntley with Reverend Jean Clayton officiating. Interment will follow at the Bainbridge Cemetery, rural Huntley.

A memorial has been established in Vicki’s honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
