At 8:45 p.m. Saturday evening the Petersburg fire Department was called to the site of a burn pit fire 4 ½ miles south of Petersburg where rubbish and other material had been lit.

Water was emptied into the pit ensuring no embers remained. Fire Chief Baumgartner not-ed no damage was done. The department returned to the station at 9:40 p.m.
