Stepping off right on time at 10 a.m. as promised, the Boone Central Marching band performed a number of songs over just a few blocks to lead the 2025 Kiddie Parade in downtown Albion to celebrate the July 4 weekend. Youth, parents and even a nationallyrecognized singer “Lee Greenwood” made and appearance (at right) in a variety of floats, bikes, wagons and strollers. The Rasmussen family has celebrated a second five-generation picture with the birth of Emmett to parents Andrew and Sarah Rasmussen of Crete. Pictured are, front row (l to r): Larry Rasmussen, Phyllis Rasmussen, holding Emmett Rasmussen; and back row: David Rasmussen and Andrew Rasmussen.

Barely two weeks away, the Boone County Fair kicks off on Saturday, July 12 at the Fairgrounds in Albion – with events through the 16th for all ages and interests. This year’s theme for the Fair and Parade is “Bee Happy at the Boone County Fair” – and floats and fairgoers are encouraged to make use of the them in their celebrations.
