Post #162 Juniors battle back in tourney, vying for top spot
The Albion Junior Legion Baseball team took to the field on Greg Paesl Memorial Field in Creighton for the 2024 Class C Junior Area 1 tournament with their first game on July 12.
The Juniors fell to Crofton’s Post 128 boys in the first game in an uncharacteristic 11-1 game; and then defeated the #1 seeded Adams Post 221 in a final inning 8-7 win, in their second game to catapult them back into the tournament in good fashion.
The Legion team moved forward on Sunday’s bracket to take on the Tri-County Titans, defeating the local team 13-5 to move into great position on Tuesday, July 16 to take a comeback run against Hartington Post 4, who defeated Adams Post 221.
Hartington is the only team out of three without a loss, so the win for over Adams would mean the Albion boys have to win twice to claim the Championship title.
The game will be played in Creighton on July 16 at 5:30 p.m. to determine the champion, and if another game was needed, it was played immedately following.
