Boone Central High School will be hosting the B-4 District track and field meet for both boys and girls next Tuesday, May 7. Due to hosting this district meet, there will be no school for Boone Central Middle School and High School (grades 5-12).

Area students will be among the graduates at Wayne State College commencement ceremonies for this Saturday, May 4, in the college’s historic Willow Bowl amphitheater. Graduate student ceremony will be at 10 a.m.

Pope John Central Catholic and St. Boniface Elementary in Elgin will be having their Spring Concert on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 7 p.m.

If you want to vote in the May 14, 2024 Primary Election and aren’t yet registered, you must be registered by Friday, May 3. To be registered, voters must reach the age of 18 on or before Nov.

Boone Central Chapter of National Honor Society held a tapping ceremony last Thursday, April 25, to induct 18 new members. The new members are (front, l.-r.) Riley Nelson, Sydney Spangler, Dayna Sharp, Ciara Baker, Madison Reilly, Miranda McGill and Elissa Reynoldson; (middle) Averie Luettel, Cody Andreasen, Brogan Benes, Grant Kuta and Myah Rankin; (back) Edwin Naranjo Aranda, Jacob Miller, Connor Christo, Logan Spence, Addyson Winter and Katelyn Krohn.

Boone Central Middle School’s speech team won the team sweepstakes at the Norfolk Junior High Tournament on Friday, April 19. Ten schools and over 150 students participated in the meet.

On April 11-12, Boone Central’s SkillsUSA team attended the Nebraska Leadership and Skills Conference in three events. Virgil Brengelman and Maxwell Grosch took part in Robotics Urban Search and Rescue.

Community Builders will hold its next meeting in Petersburg on Wednesday, May 1. Registration begins at 3 p.m.

Area 4-H members working on their 2024 livestock projects will be featured at the “A-Rama” shows on the weekend of May 24-26 in the Niewohner Arena on the Boone County Fairgrounds. The Swine-A-Rama will be held Friday, May 24.

Growth of the Boone Central TeamMates program over 21 years provided cause for celebration at the annual TeamMates Banquet Sunday evening, April 21. The chapter has grown from two mentor-mentee matches during its first year, 2002, to reach a record 75 mentor-mentees in 2023-24.
