Commissioners accept bid for box culvert projects

Two box culvert replacement projects on Boone County roads were given the green light by county commissioners at their meeting last Wednesday, June 26. The county board accepted the bid of A & R Construction, Plainview, for the Petersburg Southwest project on 160th Street and the Albion North projet on a portion of 120th Avenue.

In just a few days, the 2024 Boone County Fair will open with country music and entertainment events for the whole family. The 140th annual fair leads off Saturday, July 6, with top country music entertainment in front of the grandstand featuring the Eli Young Band with special guest Walker Montgomery.

(Editor’s Note: Isabella Meyer, one of the top 2024 Boone Central High School graduates in class rank, spent more than the average amount of time and effort in selecting a top university to attend next year. She was accepted at all 15 universities she applied to, and she picked Stanford University to begin her undergraduate career. Following is her explanation of the process.)
