Body Petersburg American Legion Post 334 was joined by Newman Grove American Legion Post # 73 for a flag retirement ceremony which began with the presentation of the colors by both posts and national anthem.

Burning flags were Jerry Bode, Clyde Stuhr and Dale Beckman.

Petersburg Legion holds Friese Golf open

Body The third annual Don Friese golf open was hosted by the Petersburg American Legion Post 334 with 12 teams competing on the Petersburg course. Friese is remembered as a long time Legion member and avid golfer.

Rae Valley Days a success despite high heat, humidity

Body High heat and humidity last weekend didn’t hold down the enthusiasm for the antique farming demonstrations at the 42nd annual Nebraska State Antique Tractor & Horse Plowing Contest near Petersburg.

FRESH POTATOES -- Children fill bags and buckets with potatoes from Dave Wilcox’s potato digger at the Nebraska STate Antique Tractor & Horse Plowing Contest last Sunday.

Free Little Library opens near park

Body The one under the shelter is “The Free Little Library” in the Uptown Park shelter which contains books for all ages. Its hoped that parents or grandparents will take a book and read while the kids are playing in the park or anyone can take a book home read it and bring it back.

New concrete completed...

Body The new concrete at the Petersburg Splash Pad was completed this past week. With just the electrical hookups to be finalized, the construction may soon be completed.The Village Board had previously announced that the new construction/repair deadline was going to be August 15.
