Boone County Health Center held a tailgating event last week on Wednesday to celebrate their recent national awards and achievements and to sharea meal with community members. Organizers estimated that the center served and visited with around 375 folks that came to participate in the event.
It has been a gauntlet of tough teams to open the Boone Central football season. Their opponents had a combined 11-1 record heading into Friday night action.
Improvement is always the goal from week to week in the sport of Cross Country. Finding ways to improve on the scary Scotus Central Catholic course north of Columbus is a tall order.
Boone Central (6-4) faced some stiff competition on the court this week with a home match against Crofton (7-1) on Tuesday followed by the Stanton Triangular against Norfolk Catholic (8-2) and Stanton (5-3) on Thursday and finally the Central City Invite on Saturday against Centennial (5-9), Wood River (6-8), and Adams Central (5-4).
The Boone Central Lady Cardinals have marked about the three-quarter point in their fall 2024 season and have had some great successes. So far in the season, the Lady Cards have picked up a 12-9 record with wins over Highway 91, Blue River, Polk County, North Bend Central, Pierce, Centura, Logan View/ Scribner-Snyder, York and Wayne, doubling up on multiple games.
The Boone Central 7th/8th Grade band competed in the 44th annual Lions Club Parade on Saturday, September 21st. This was the first marching experience for any of these students, as last year’s parade was cancelled due to weather conditions.
I’m not much of a fisherman...I mean if someone hits me with a 67 degree sunshiney day and throws a rod in my hand and a chair in the shade, sure, I’ll cast a line a few times. It’s not my biggest hobby, but I’ve been known to fish a bit.
UMW to hold The Albion United Methodist Women of Faith will be hosting a soup supper and bazaar on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the Boone County Fairgrounds Event Center.
