The Boone Central Girls Golf Team most recently competed at the Lakeview Invite on Thursday, September 12 at Quail Run Golf Course. The Cardinal team finished in 7th place with a 476.

Cardinals take on tough Skyview course in Norfolk

Traditionally, moving from the competitive Boone Central Cross Country Invitational with competition from all four NSAA classes to the Norfolk Catholic Invitational on the tough Skyview Lake course is a rewarding experience for young Boone Central cross country runners.

Dinged up Cardinals downed at home

Last week’s bout with the Knights left the Cardinals more than a bit banged up.And with perennial stalwart Battle Creek coming to town, there was no time to nurse the wounds. The Braves came out looking to play Battle Creek football and simply overpower the Cardinals, and the BC defense held strong on the first drive stopping the Braves after a modestly successful drive.

The St. Edward Fire Department recently received a donation of a pallet of canned water from Anheuser-Busch via Eagle Distributing to help keep firefighters hydrated during their service to their communities.

Mansfield Foundation grants top $250,000 this year for Boone County communities

The Mansfield Foundation grants for 2024 have been announced, benefitting multiple organizations and projects around the Albion community with $250,000 this year. The non-profit organization, founded in the mid 1980’s by the estate of Albion natives Wesley and Irene Mansfield began as a funding mechanism for Nebraska and Iowa Colleges and Universities.

Flag burning held

Petersburg American Legion Post 334 was joined by Newman Grove American Legion Post # 73 for a flag retirement ceremony which began with the presentation of the colors by both posts and national anthem.
Burning flags were Jerry Bode, Clyde Stuhr and Dale Beckman.
