On Saturday, February 22, the Boone Central Cardinal speech team picked up a Team Sweepstakes runner-up trophy at a invitational at Battle Creek. The team had 133 team points, trailing by just four points behind host school, Battle Creek.

Graveside service for Kathy J. Parker age 67 of Neligh, were held Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion. Rev, Keith Brich officiated. Kathy Jo Parker was born on July 5, 1957 to Ronald and Maxine Wear at Quincy, Illinois, and she passed away February 16, 2025 at her home She grew up in Quincy, Illinois until moving to Nebraska in 1993. She worked at Boone County Sheriff’s Office as a dispatcher in Albion. She loved her dogs, reading, and going to music concerts. She liked watching true crime shows, going out to eat at steakhouses, and shopping. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Ronald Wear. Kathy J. Parker is survived by her son, Raymond Justin Wear of Streetsboro, Ohio; and daughter, Kaylan Shay Parker of Omaha. Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
