Spirit squads compete over the weekend

The Boone Central cheerleaders competed in Traditional Tumbling and Game Day on Friday, February 20th. While they did not place in the top 5, they achieved their highest scores since we have been participating in cheer competitions. The Cardinal dance team then competed on Saturday, February 21st, in the categories of Jazz and High Kick. The girls placed 4th in High Kick. Both groups received Academic Excellence Awards.

Lady Cards fall in sub-district game

With the regular season in the rearview mirror, the Cardinals needed a short memory to shake off the late season losing skid and refocus for subdistricts. They drew the O’Neill subdistrict C1-5 as a #2 seed meaning they would start things out against #3 Arlington (12-11) on Feb 17th.

Two Cardinal wrestlers pick up silver

The Boone Central girls and boys wrestling teams both qualified members for the 2026 individual tournaments that were held last week at the CHI Center in Omaha – returning home with two state medalists for the program. “What a long week with lots of good wrestling,” said Coach Josh Majerus.

Valladao honored with state award

Boone County Weed Superintendent, Margaret Valladao, was honored with the 2025 Region 3 Superintendent of the Year Award for the State of Nebraska. This award was presented during the 79th NWCAAnnual Conference and Trade Show held in Norfolk, Nebraska.
