The Boone County Ag Society announced via their social media pages last week, Feb. 19, that two musical acts have been booked for Tuesday evening during this year’s Boone County Fair.

On Saturday, February 14th, 12 Boone Central 7th and 8th Grade Band and Choir students traveled to the Stanton Junior High Honor Festival. 31 schools and approximately 300 students participated in the event. Students were selected based on nominations by their directors. The groups rehearsed throughout the day and concluded with a public concert. The Cardinals traveled to Battle Creek on Saturday February 21 to compete in the always challenging Battle Creek Invitational. The Cardinals came home with the Varsity Sweepstakes championship narrowly edging out the host Battle Creek.

Boone Central senior Elissa Reynoldson with her Voice of Democracy award along with Past National President Dixie Hild, State Auxiliary President Liz Davis and State VFW Post Commander Ron Sibal. The winners of the state Voice of Democracy contest were announced at the VFW Mid-Winter Conference in Lincoln, on Friday January 30, 2026. The 10 district winners competed for over $10,000 in scholarship money. Elissa placed eighth. She is the daughter of Jason and Lisa Reynoldson of Albion.

RedCross Blood Drive Coordinators Kathy Koch and JoAnn Mattner reported a successful Petersburg February blood drive with 37 units donated surpassing their goal of 36 with several milestones set. Donors were down, expected due to illness etc.
