St. Edward FFA competes in District CDEs

STATE QUALIFIERS -- St. Edward FFA livestock management team will represent their chapter in state CDE contests this year. Team members are (l.-r.) Lydia Ketelsen, Josie Sock, Olivia Reardon, Ryan Cumming and Rebekah Ketelsen. The team placed second in their district contest last Friday.

St. Edward FFA competed successfully in Career Development Events (CDEs) last Friday, Feb. 23, at Central Community College, Grand Island.

Qualifying for state competition in Livestock Management was the team of Lydia Ketelsen, Josie Sock, Olivia Reardon, Ryan Cumming and Rebekah Ketelsen. They earned second place overall.

Other St. Edward students and their contest placings were:

• Agriscience - Team placed third. Individuals: Noah Ketelsen, fourth place purple; Katelyn Werts, 12th place blue; Arlette Irineo, 29th place white. Other team members were Noah Ketelsen, Katelyn Werts, Kalvin Sindelar, Arlette Irineo, Lexi Strain, Nathan Fitzsimmons, Damien Jones and Abner Carvajal.

• Ag Biotechnology - Team placed fourth.

• Floriculture - Alli Brauner, 16th place red.

• Meats - Team placed seventh. Individuals: Ryan Cumming, ninth place red; Mason Steensnes, 24th place white.

• Natural Resources - Team placed 10th. Individuals: Carter Anson, ninth place blue.

• Welding - Individuals: Cole Jochem - MIG, sixth place white; Blake Foshee - OA, ninth place white; Carter Anson - TIG, ninth place white; Trevin Mowrey - ARC, 16th place individual.
