Many Newman Grove High School Alumni were on hand for the annual alumni luncheon on Saturday, June 1, at the high school cafeteria. In 2023, the Alumni Association changed to doing a lunch during Shell Creek Valley Days instead of Saturday night of Memorial weekend, to see if attendance would improve.

The Newman Grove Methodist Church will be celebrating 150 years of worship, service and discipleship during the June 22-23 weekend. The celebration will begin on Saturday, June 22 with a service at 3 p.m.

The 1974 graduates of Newman Grove High School celebrated 50 years at their reunion last Saturday. Class members attending included (back, l.-r.) After an hour and a half rain delay, the tractor parade that kicked off Shell Valley Days drove through the streets of Newman Grove. The tractor parade was in honor of Terry Radenslaben, Sr., a longtime resident and former schoolteacher and advisor at Newman Grove schools.

Firefighters, EMTs train high schoolers

Students in the junior classes of St. Edward and Newman Grove high schools had some valuable hands-on training in various fire fighting and rescue activities last Thursday, April 25, at the St. Edward Fire Station. Above, Newman Grove firefighter and teacher Brett Miller assists a student in full gear in adjusting the mask for her self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Nine Newman Grove students took part in this training for the first time this year.
