Coming July 4th, Albion’s The NEST is getting a special guest in Winona “Nona the Nail Tech” Avery of Norfolk, will be coming to do a special Q & A about her thriving nail business and new podcast “The Nailcast.”

As the July 4 holiday approaches, Albion residents should remember the current local City codes governing fireworks and their use in the City limits for the safety of citizens. According to the City Code book fireworks are allowed for one week a year, June 27 to July 4, and should be contained between the hours of 7 a.m.

County Deputies are continuing to prepare for the next budgeting cycle, including looking at wages that are going up statewide. County Clerk Sarah Robinson mentioned that they county is still waiting for more statewide wage numbers from the Nebraska Association of County Officials (NACO).

Filing deadlines are approaching for village board and public power district board candidates in Nebraska. Incumbents in these offices must file by July 15.

Cardinal Raffled...

Several area students atrtended the Wayne State College Summer Speech Camp recently, getting a jump start with their competitive speech projects for the upcoming school year. Area students attending included Makenna Devine and Lexi Osborn of Albion, Aiden Klein and Olivia Klein of Petersburg, and Jovie Borer and Juliana McNally of Elgin.

Autumn Simons of Petersburg was recently named to the dean’s list at the College of St. Mary, Omaha, for the 2024 spring semester.

As noted in last week’s article, the Albion Seniors were to play three times this past week. But the inclement weather that has been a constant this season canceled their road trips to David City and Wayne.
