Lindsay Pivot Days will be June 28-29

Lindsay community will be celebrating its annual Pivot Days on Friday and Saturday, June 28-29, with a wide variety of events. Preceding the celebration, the special auction of a Lindsay pivot point, with panel, span and overhang will be held Wednesday, June 26.

Ridgeway receives Quilt of Valor

Dr. Jim Ridgeway of Albion (center), a retired U.S. Navy veteran, was recently presented a Quilt of Valor for serving in the Navy during the Korean War. Navy veterans Jerry Leifeld, l., and Larry Swerczek, r., helped to present the quilt. The quilt squares were made by Jim’s wife, Kay, and completed by Sandi McMillan and Carol Kusek.

Charles Linford Sweet passed away in Omaha on Monday, June 10, 2024, from pancreatic cancer. A celebration of his life will be scheduled for a future date in Albion.

Property valuations out, deadline June 30

Boone County Assessor’s office has released the county assessment sales/ratio statistics for the coming assessment year. Residential property will be assessed at a median of 95%; commercial property will be valued at 100% of median and agricultural land will be assessed at 69% of its value.

Big slate of activities set this Saturday

Albion/Boone Central Alumni will be returning for their annual banquet this Saturday, June 15, and many special events are planned in town that day. The schedule opens in the morning with a breakfast featuring the Waffle Man starting at 8 a.m.
