Historical Society Board approves new building bids

A special meeting of the Boone County History Museum was held on Thursday, June 6 at the museum, with a vote to start progress on a new building addition. The concrete cost will be about 165 yards at $131 per yard based on a successful bid from B & S Concrete of Petersburg, and the accepted building bid was $92,060 ($58,500 materials and $33,560 labor) from Beckman Lumber of Elgin.

Petersburg was a busy community last week, hosting an overnight stay for the Bike Ride Across Nebraska at the Highway 14 Park on Wednesday, followed by the annual car show and Petersburg Fire Department Cruise Night on Saturday, June 8. Both of these events brought many people into town.

At an early morning meeting Monday, the Boone Central School Board acted on several items in preparation for the upcoming school year. The biggest purchase approved was a new boiler for the high school building at $53,973 from Merit Mechanical of Tilden.

Albion’s Downtown Summer Concert Series will be opening on Thursday, July 4, with special entertainment by two specialty acts at The Venue on Fourth Street. “SongBlast, Dueling Guitars” will entertain from 5 to 7 p.m.
