A death of not-yet-determined causes was reported via 911 call Monday, April 1, at 11:30 a.m. to the Boone County Sheriff’s office. The caller stated a 17-year-old juvenile was unresponsive at a hog confinement west of St. Edward. The Sheriff’s office responded to the scene and located the deceased juvenile Zach Panther. The Sheriff was assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol.

An Albion community blood drive next Monday, April 8, will honor two long time local blood drive volunteers, Mary Urwin and Donna Iwan. Both have been community volunteers for many years, and they are being honored for their commitment to others.

A partial solar eclipse will be visible in the Boone County area this Monday, April 8. While this will not be a spectacular total eclipse as occurred over this area in 2017, many area residents will still want to view it between 12:30 and 3:15 p.m.

County Commissioner Brian Yosten was appointed interim Zoning Administrator during the March 27 meeting of the Boone County Commissioners. This is only a temporary position until the position can be permanently filled.
