Superintendent Schwartz to leave Boone Central

Superintendent of Schools Jeff Schwartz announced Monday morning he will be leaving Boone Central Schools at the end of the current school year in June 2024.
Schwartz, who has served only one year as Boone Central Superintendent, will be accepting a position next year as Director of Student Services and Safety at Kearney Public Schools. That position will begin in July 2024.
Boone Central School Board held a special meeting at 7 a.m. Monday, where they approved a motion to accept the superintendent’s resignation and release him from his 2024-25 contract.

State Speech Champions!

Boone Central’s speech team made school history by winning their first ever State Speech Championship last Thursday, March 21, in Kearney.
After a runner-up finish at the C1 State Speech Tournament last year, the Boone Central Cardinals went one better for 2024 to capture the championship over perennial powers David City (second place) and Malcolm (third).
Boone Central had 13 entries advancing to state this year, and 10 entries made the tournament finals. This group came away with three first places, two seconds, two thirds and three fourths.

Gateway to the Sandhills Bullride

Some 35 bullriders from Nebraska and seven other states competed in the 29th annual Gateway to the Sandhills Bullride at the Niewohner Arena in Albion last Saturday night, March 16. Nebraskans won the top two placings, with Cooper Kursave of Arcadia in first place and Ben Wood of Greeley finishing second. About 800 people attended the event sponsored by Albion FFA Alumni.
