The Newman Grove/St. Edward Panther Track and Field teams kicked off their inaugural season at the Concordia University Prairie Division meet on March 21st.
As promised in last week’s edition, the following Boone Central athletes medaled at the Wayne State College ioor meet on March 22. The team’s next competition was on Tuesday, April 1, a then the team will compete on April 8 at the Wayne Invitational at 1 p.m.
The Northeast Nebraska Motorsports Hall of Fame (NENMHOF) will officially enshrine it’s fourth Hall of Fame induction class at its Saturday, October 11th, 2025 Awards Banquet / Induction Ceremony. Among those to be inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame will be a standard in racing from the Albion community, Mike Landauer.
Preston Trollope, a senior at Boone Central, recently signed his letter of intent to compete on the Peru State Men’s Bobcat Bowling team in the coming year. Trollope was a state bowling qualifier just this past season, and will be under the direction of Dwyne DaMoude and Emily Samayoa. Family pictured are Chance, Preston, Barbara and Mike Trollope.
A number of youth from Newman Grove/St. Edward’s youth wrestling program took to the mats at Grand Island at the NEUSA State tournament last weekend, with one State champion, and two medalists coming home with some hardware.
Several members of the Boone Central basketball teams were recently named to the Mid-State All-Conference teams. Sophomore Addy Hedlund was named to the all-conference team for the girls.
The Boone Central Youth Wrestling club had a number of youth travel to Grand Island last week for the 2025 NEUSA State wrestling tournament at the Heartland Event Center – and returned home with a number of medalists, and a lot of improvement.
The Boone Central track opened their 2025 season at the Wayne State College indoor meet on Saturday, March 22nd. Both teams had a terrific start to their season in an unscored meet.
This year’s Boone Central boys golf team has seven returning varsity golfers, led by a three-senior team, and Coach Eric Albers said he’s excited to see how the team progresses through the season.
