Volleyball squad starts off post season with conference

With the regular season out of the way, the Cardinals of Boone Central headed to the annual Mid-State Conference Tournament in Pierce last week. The Cardinals faced Battle Creek in the first round Monday falling in four sets and competed against O’Neill in the second round Tuesday falling again in four sets.

Cardinals upset by visiting Chants, enter state playoffs

Boone Central football was back on the field for the regular season finale at home last Thursday facing the Chanticleers of Ord (3-5). This one was a thriller throughout much like last week with the game coming down to the final few minutes but unlike the last-minute stand of last week, Ord took the last-minute lead and made their own stand to hand the Cardinals their third loss of the season, 26-20.

If you’ve never been to a Nebraska State Cross Country Meet, you’re really missing something! At a normal state championship in other sports, you may see teams from maybe eight schools per class - but in Cross Country the Kearney Country Club is jammed with teams and spectators from every corner of the state. From huge Omaha schools with over a thousands students down to little schools with only 25.

Cardinals Hold Off the GICC Crusaders

The Cardinals of Boone Central were back in action Friday at home against the Crusaders of Grand Island Central Catholic (6-1) and this one was a doozy. Despite a terrific start from the Cards, the Crusaders refused to go away mounting an impressive comeback late to keep it close all the way to the end.

Lady Cardinals compete at State in North Platte

On Monday and Tuesday, the Boone Central Lady Cardinals golf team traveled to North Platte to compete in the Class C State Golf Championship. “It was an awesome ending to such a happy season,” said Coach Amy Allgood.

The Lady Panthers noticed a loss against the Palmer Tigers in the team’s most recent matchup on October 17, falling 3-0 in the game series. The Panthers gave up sets, 2523, 25-16 and 25-14 in the ‘best of five’ game.

The regular season came to an end with a flurry of action for the Boone Central volleyball team. They started off the week with a short trip to Fullerton on Tuesday to take on the Warriors (12-10) and came away with a victory in three sets.

In the world of Boone Central Cross Country, the work of the short fall season is funneled into a narrow gap that ends with the Class C-3 District Championship. To make it through this narrow gap a team must place in the top 3 of the competition while an individual must be among the top 15 placers.

The Nebraska State Cross Country Championships will be held this coming Friday, October 25th at the Kearney Country Club. The meet will start at 12:00 noon with a Class A and B session. The Class C boys will take off at 3:00 pm while the girls will start at 4:00.
