Kroening joins center as manager

The Beaver Valley Senior Center welcomes Jeff Kroening to their Center as of July 1. Jeff and his wife, Laurie, recently moved to the community from Gillett, Wisconsin where Jeff worked as a salesperson for Primal Eats.

Umanska places in NWF contest...

Anhelina Umanska of St. Edward Public School, won second place for her drawing of Monarch Butterfly in the 2025 Marge Kennedy Nebraska Wildlife Federation Wildlife Poster Contest. Many 6th graders from across the state submitted entries. She received her award at Pioneers Park Natures Center in Lincoln where her poster was on display.

St. Edward Memorial Day...

The St. Edward Memorial Day services were held in the light rain outside, with rifle corps and flags flying at the Evergreen Cemetery. As a special treat, there was a fly-ver with St. Edward’s own Travis Carlson in the crew of a KC135-Stratotanker that morning as well.

“Hero of the Rails” program is based on Reisdorff’s book by the same name, which not only tells the story of George Poell’s bravery, but includes accounts of other brave acts by railroad employees during the time when railroads ruled the nation. Reisdorff has authored and co-authored two dozen books on the subject of railroads and their place in Nebraska history.
