Raeville has new warning siren

Body
Last week, Fire Chief Baumgartner (left) and Assistant Chief Salber attached a warning siren to a pole located at the site of the Fangman irrigation well near Raeville. The siren will sound allowing residents and the surrounding area time to get to a safe place if a tornado does approach. According to Baumgartner, the pole was scheduled to be put up this week, but rain could delay the project. When the pole is installed, the present siren will not be compatible with the present Petersburg radio system and will not allow the siren to be sounded by the Petersburg system. It will be possible to sound the siren manually, However, it’s possible the department could upgrade their radio system allowing communication with the Raeville siren. The upgraded system would cost more than a thousand dollars and the department will discuss funding.
